In the afternoon of August 22, 1862 near Hartsville, Tennessee, two of the most renowned Confederate raiders, Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrset and Col. John Hunt Morgan came together. Col. Morgan and Lt. Col. Basil Duke, aware of the impending arrival of Gen. Forrest, rode out to meet him and invite him to visit their encampment.
